A trial on Eve Online

Eve Online

I can say that out of all of the games I have played Eve online is one of the most complicated. The learning hurdle of Eve for me was almost two hours long. I had developed some interest in Eve due to news coverage I had seen where a comparative amount of $300,000 dollars had been destroyed. The way they had compared the value was on a base that 60,000,000 of the game currency could pay for a 20 dollar membership. The ships and equipment to outfit the ships was estimated at $900 trillion dollars.

Yesterday

So yesterday I logged in and found that in the same guild an old friend of mine was on. Who was it? Non other then the classic Saave. Now saave is one of the more unique individual's I have met in my gaming travels. Saave is the only person in everquest that I know to use the smiley face like this (:^)) which has always reminded me of a snow man smiley face. This to me is quite iconic and is something that only reminds me of talking with Saave. I really have never seen it anywhere else.

Saave is a good friend and always willing to help. She looked at my gear and decided that an upgrade was most certainly in order. So we went the grounds. I had never been here and really had only a moderate feel for playing. I was impressed to see her slaying beasts with an almost 100k nuke. This told me that wizards must be hitting for 500k because clerics were always considered one of the worst nukers in the game.
As any experienced player in eq knows. The first thing to do when you start is to always buff up. I was impressed to see that the latest cleric buffs were nothing to go without considering it included almost a 10k more hit points. After being chased by a train of undead and random monsters because I forgot to cast invis on myself. We made it to grounds.
I took a moment to try and tank something because I wanted to see how week I am if I were to try and fight solo. Turns out hat they would be completely out of my ability considering they hit for the same as my max heal. That is always a good sign you won't make it very far. The monsters really reminded me of being a newb again to. Mostly wasps and snakes.
I even tried to use a mercenary to help out. However the poor guy died over and over and over.
Watching a cleric fight has always been interesting. They just need to make sure they have enough hitpoints to survive the encounter and heal themselves over and over. Killing a cleric is one of the hardest things to do in the game if you can't one shot them.

When running into a toad they were spawned in the classic mounting look. It is where one monster spawns on the other making it look like they are mating. I didn't capture it here but it was still worth mentioning.

Alas all good things come to an end. After a bit of a lag spite we ended up dead and Saave had to go. It was good to see an old friend as the quest continues!

A trip down memory lane

In the beginning because i was actually a little jumpy and a child around the age of 12 I was the trader of the family primarily in fact. My father and mother were divorced and had been for a long time. I would go back in fourth between my dad's and mom's house quite often. It was nice to play because I could always hang out with the other parent on the game when I was away.At my dad's I would play on their house account that I got them started on. That included myself my dad and both of my step brothers. When at my mom's I would play on her account which was just me and her.

I have a lot of memories in everquest and most of them have something to do with the east commons tunnel. On the innoruuk server it was the place to hang out and trade before the shadow's of luclin expansion came out. I would sit there and trade primarily probably more then I would actually fight at the time. The main character I would trade on was a warrior named lauril. Level 30 was the highest he ever got. However during the time I had full crafted armor a flowing black silk sash and very nice weapons for the time. When ruins of kunark came out I quickly traded for a wurmslayer something that most warriors drooled over that were many levels ahead of me. I also had my polished granite tomahawk (pgt) to. It was a bit of a risk but I loved using the tomahawk in duels. People would duel wield lamentation blades. I would use a pgt and a wurmslayer. They would always get me down quicker but when i got to berserker frenzy I would start landing the massive crippling blows that would quickly end the fight.

That was life in norrath. Then when the expansion for luclin came out. People stopped going to the tunnel. I stayed I didnt like the bazaar. It was filled with people that were afk for the night with their trader up. Bartering was still possible but it was a pain in the ass. You had to find them when they were on and keep track of the items you wanted of who. To me this was when the world went dark. Sure people still fought and grinded levels together. They raided together. But the times of hanging out and watching text go by way faster then you could hope to read was over. I stopped playing for awhile and started playing Diablo at the time. It really didn't fill the void so I came back to the game to see what was going on now.

Later on they came out with the planes of power. This was really an amazing  and bad ass time. It was alot like a rival to me. Because the plane of knowledge became the old east commons tunnel. People would talk and chat and buff each other for donations. Trading was still in the bazaar but you could do it in pok just as much. People gave things away alot more to the lower characters as well. It was a time where you could say their were alot of middle levels and people at the highest levels still had alot of aa's to work with so they were like new characters compared to the elite.

I never really had much interest in the legacy of ykesha other then the buffs that were added to help out lower leveling. I spent most of my time in planes of power all the way until the omens of war came out. Gates was a bit to much for me because I hadn't made it near a max level yet but was still farming aa's just because I didn't think I would survive later very well if I didn't. So I chose to grind in the bothunder. However every once in awhile I would find myself on some trip to a dangerous part to take part in a raid or two. I was lucky to get some pretty good drops as well in qvic. Omens a war really was a fun time for me as well. I lived in the proving grounds or a long time. Grinding and grinding trying to put together a group to do trials.

This is when i raided the heaviest and got myself decked out in anguish gear with the legacy of steel. A nameless guild that I was introduced to when the servers merged. I spent a long time getting my 1.5 and later my 2.0. Legacy of steel took me into the dragons of norrath but I never did get that dragon slayer I wanted off of vish. Later we went to the theater of blood and grinded through the depts of darkhallow. The content was really cool but it really didnt have the magic like the old days of eq. Mostly because the old days you were lucky if you could even see in the dark. At this point truesight items were pretty standard and handed out on almost any quest helm. At this time I would often think about doing raids in kedge keep with no enduring breath items. Just relying on a friendly shaman to keep me alive. Or even better handing an enduring breath item back and fourth between a group of people. Or worse thinking about some snake that once took the groups enduring breath item and gated out leaving everyone else to die. The corpse run was murder....

That guys name was Slaten and I still get that angry feeling when I think about it even though he was probably just a kid. I died the most going in to get corpses because I was the highest level and knew I could drag the longest. In the end there was alot of rezzing but it was a week long stop from normal everquest.

The serpents spine was really the last of everquest that felt anything like the old days to me. Find yourself in the steppes or icefall seeing the familiar word train to zone was always a nice blast from the past. In a previous post I talked about kiting the zone which people would often consider a train and more powerful characters would try and tank the few bears they saw that were actually more like 50. It wasn't the time to apologize considering im still working and kiting them all down but I would always try to after they were dead.

Before I left this last time I sat in ashengate and watched the items from a raid and realized that my 2.0 would be getting replaced by these items. I thought to myself yep and other one bites the dust. I didn't want to give it up though so instead I just logged off and that was it until recently.

I played wow for awhile. I played eve for awhile. I still play another game called dota but it isnt the same. Its nothing like the magic of that other world at the end of a dial up connection. The original norrath. Before the game went dark.

Dota2: How to win when everyone else ditched

Doesn't it suck when every other person on your team ditches and you just wanna kick some ass? Well you can! and this is how.

Use other characters to farm you gold. It doesn't matter if they die and in some cases its useful to kill them here and their so their level stays low so they don't yield much more exp then killing creeps. Make sure you don't let the same character kill them over and over also because it makes no sense to make one guy particularly strong. It helps to be on an agility or strength character but its possible with any character. Get yourself a manta, a butterfly, a satanic, and a heart. Then build dagon for extra dps.

When you have all of these items you will likely have gotten a few kills solo here and their. The main thing is that you cannot die. You are the only hero that has to stay alive. It doesn't really matter if they push other lanes just stick to the mid lane and hammer out your farm. Make sure you joke with them a little bit and tell them to commend you for staying. This makes them think you are on their side.

Now surprise them suddenly when they come for you in mid and use every stun and ult you can on your team. Kill and chase back as many of them as possible. They won't suspect an actual attack on them because they have been getting fed most of the game off of your heros. You will quickly go through their tier 1 2 and 3 towers. If it looks like their is time take out a mid raks. If not head straight for rosh. They now know that you mean business when they see you have aegis. Instead of fighting them this time try and avoid them. Get as many characters as you can outside their base. When you see the X's on the mini map finish the mid raks off and go for their ancient towers. You will likely get one before they get back. This is where you make your stand. Its do or die kill them as soon as they teleport in or get them running back for safety. Once your aegis is down get out of there and wait for your bot heros to respawn. Now stop them at your base and go for the finish push.

Congrats you have won solo against five. Either that or your happy you put up such a good fight. Enjoy and give them hell.

Real life friend, good food, hunger games, and fleetwood mac

Today I ran into an old friend of mine from Buffalo, New York. It was good to see him here in the great city of Portland, Oregon. I invited him home for dinner with my family and then ended up going to see the movie hunger games. My friend who is now a roady for fleetwood mac was also suddenly able to get me and my family tickets for fleetwood mac. So alot can happen when you get up out of your bed and head out to the grocery store right?

Dinner was good. I gave him a tour of the house and ended up jamming a littl on the guitar together. We played in our first band together a long time ago. It was good to play old songs that neither of us could remember how to play completely. After that we played some PS3. He had interest in the game journey which is a very interesting art game by "that game company". It features beautiful landscapes on an alien world where the character takes on a spiritual journey to join his people in the stars at the top of a mountain. All in all I would like to say that the game is a beautiful design, amazing graphical display's, and provides a impressive sound that really brings the game to life.

WOW as in I'm amazed

I just wanted to say I am quite amazed in the amount of traffic I am getting this early on. I expected this to be a slow journey however after a few hundred views in the first two weeks I am really thankful to those that have set up links for me and given me the time a day to get the ball rolling.

The world is a big place and I want to say this to anyone thinking about blogging. At any given moment there are 1 million people that are interested in what you are thinking about. Just need to find them.

Thanks again for the attention and I will do my best to keep up the content!

A game I have been playing recently

Defense of the Ancients 2 AKA Dota 2

Now I have been playing this game quite a bit lately for pure enjoyment and I gotta say that it is one action packed of pure havoc. The object of the game is to go 5 on 5 in a fast paste strategy game. You have 3 lanes that pump out a small legion of units much like in the original warcraft games, but the kicker is you don't have any say on what they do. You control your choice of about 200 characters that all have specialized abilities. You collect gold by killing enemy creeps and build yourself up in a race to destroy the ancient which is the heart of the other team's base.

If your up for a crazy game go ahead and look me up. My name on their is HARVEST.
